Volunteer Opportunities
Congregation B'nai Israel offers a number of opportunities to become involved as a volunteer. Please contact Tovah Lehrer at 241-8118 or tlehrer@cbiboca.org for more information on how you can help in any of the following areas or if you have a skill not listed that you would like to utilize as a volunteer.
ADMINISTRATIVE - Assist the office staff with a myriad of tasks. (proofing, editing, mailings, copying, filing, etc.)
ARCHIVE - Assist in documenting our history for generations to come.
ARZA - Arrange programs relating to the Reform movement in Israel. Provides our members with special observances and events throughout the year.
BROTHERHOOD - Join this group that offers a wide variety of men’s programs and special events.
CBI OF THE DEAF - Congregation B’nai Israel for the Deaf - One service each month is signed for the hearing impaired. The morning High Holyday Service is interpreted for the hearing impaired.
CEMETERY - Assist families with pre-need.
CHAVUROT - Help develop programs to create new friendship groups (chavurot) with common interests.
CHOIR/BANDS - Join one of our music groups...Alter Chai Notes (Adult Choir); Junior Chai Notes, (Children’s Choir); Shultones, (Teen Band); Chai Lights, (Adult Band). All are overseen by Cantor Shore.
COLLEGE COMMITTEE - Helps coordinate keeping our college students connected to their Judaism and synagogue.
EZRAT-AM HELPING COMMUNITY - Provide a myriad of resources for CBI members who suddenly find themselves in crisis or in need.
FUNDRAISING AND ENDOWMENTS
HIGH HOLYDAY AUXILIARY SERVICE - Plan and implement our off-site service.
HOUSE COMMITTEE - Supervises our physical plant, all buildings, furnishings, fixtures and equipment, including maintenance and repair.
INTERFAITH OUTREACH - Plan and execute religious and social educational programs for interfaith couples/families.
JUDAICA GIFT SHOP - Volunteer in the Women of Reform Judaism Gift Shop.
L’DOR VADOR - Join a group with a wide variety of programs and special events tailored for people who are 55+.
LIBRARIES:
□ ADULT LIBRARY - Plan the development and enhancement of the adult library.
□ FELDMAN CHILDREN’S LIBRARY - Help librarian with books, read to children.
MEMBERSHIP - Implements methods for attracting, welcoming and orienting new members. Additionally conducts programs to generate goodwill among new and existing members.
PARENT ORGANIZATIONS - assist with a widevariety of holiday programs and special events.
□ Barry Ira Graff School for Living Judaism (religious school)
□ Nadel Center for Early Childhood Education (pre-school)
PHOTOGRAHY/VIDEOGRAPHY - Photograph programs and educational activities for publicity and archival purposes.
PROGRAMS/EVENTS/MARKETING - Work with the Program/Marketing Director to help develop, implement, and market programs to our members and community.
SINGLES - Join others from our community for, and/or help plan events specifically tailored for singles.
SOCIAL ACTION (KANTOR FAMILY CENTER FOR JUSTICE) - Recommend and implement congregational involvement in worthy causes which foster the ideals of Judaism.
USHERING - Maintains the decorum of our beautiful services and assist our members with seating at Shabbat Services and at the High Holydays.
WRJ/SISTERHOOD - Join with other women from the CBI community for awide variety of women’s programs and special events.
YOUNG ADULTS (20’S-30’S) - Join other young adults from our community for, and/or help plan events specifically tailored for singles and newly married couples.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES - Help plan exciting programs to inspire and involve our youth - with the goal being a means to connect them to their Judaism and synagogue.
YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP - Help coordinate a program for our children for Jewish experiences such as camp, travel to Israel or Youth Group Convention.
