Kantor Family Center for Justice
"If you will it, it is no dream."
Theodore Herzl
The work of the Kantor Family Center for Justice (KFCJ) reaches far and wide throughout the community both locally and worldwide to help those in need, build interfaith ties with other religious groups, and provide diverse opportunities for you to fulfill the mission of tikkun olam, or repairing the world.
The Kantor Family Center for Justice has received national awards for its interfaith programming, and illustrates that every person's participation adds their light to perform G-d's work of repairing the world. For more information, contact chairpersons Vicky and Gary Weiner at 561/488-7118.
Social action efforts by the KFCJ include:
- Project Isaiah--an annual collection to feed those in need throughout south Florida in conjunction with the Forster Family Kosher Food Pantry.
- Feed the Hungry--In partnership with Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, our annual program serves more than 4,000 Thanksgiving feasts to those less fortunate throughout the community.
- Lori Sklar Mitzvah Day--Annual gathering of hundreds of CBI members to perform various mitzvot for the benefit of over two dozen organizations in the area. Activities include blanket making for hospitalized children, card making for military troops overseas, food preparation for area soup kitchens and FCAT readiness packages for students.
- Monthly Collections--Each month, a different collection is organized to serve a portion of the community that would otherwise go without. Examples include our "Pack it Up" collection in August to collect school supplies, our October "Sugar Rush" candy collection and November Chanukah Toy collection.
- Job Bank--Helping potential employers and employees connect.
- Sandwich Brigade--Making sandwiches every Wednesday in the Yormark Family North Social Hall from 10:00am - 11:00am throughout the school year.
- Jewish Military Overseas Collections--High Holyday, Chanukah and Passover holiday collections and shipments to enlisted Jews in the United States military.
- Respond to natural disasters, both domestically and internationally.
- High Holyday Baskets--assembly and delivery of holiday food stuffs to area homebound.
Working together, we can make a difference!
