Founded in 1984, Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) has a community of more than 1,000 families and stands as a nationally recognized all-inclusive Reform Synagogue, fostering a meaningful and spiritual connection to Judaism. Categories of Membership

Membership at Congregation B’nai Israel is open to any Jewish person and their spouse/partner and children. People of other faiths may be included in a Family Membership if their spouse/partner is Jewish. Membership spans a one-year period from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. Members choose one of the following membership categories:

Family: Married couple or two individuals living together in a partnered relationship, with or without children

Single: Adult with or without children

Young Singles: 22-29 years or younger

Young Couples: Oldest member of household 22-29 years of age

Early 30’s Singles: 30-35 years of age

Early 30’s Couples: 30-35 years of age

Senior Adult Single: 65+

Senior Adult Couple: Oldest member of household is 65+

Associate Member Single: Full dues paying member at another congregation

Associate Member Couple: Full dues paying member at another congregation

Enhanced Membership

Shomrim/Guardian Society

The Shomrim/Guardian Society is our annual membership that helps to balance the cost of membership for those who cannot afford full dues or tuition. Over the years, more than one thousand families have been able to join or maintain membership in CBI and more than three thousand children have been able to attend our Barry Ira Graff School for Living Judaism.

Ner Tamid Circle $27,000*
Participation in the Ner Tamid Circle includes an annual reserved parking space (inclusive of all that is mentioned below).

Rabbi’s Circle $12,500*
Participation at this level provides members with an annual complimentary “double brick” along the south entrance walkway, to honor a family occasion or a friend (inclusive of all that is mentioned below).

Tzedakah (Justice) Circle $7,200*
Participation in the Tzedakah Circle includes a parking permit for High Holy Day services in the Cohen-Friedkin Sanctuary (inclusive of all that is mentioned below).

Chai (Life) Circle $5,400*
Participation at this level provides members with an annual complimentary brick along the south entrance walkway to honor a family occasion or a friend plus two guest tickets for the High Holy Days (inclusive of all that is mentioned below).

Bonim (Builders) Circle $3,600*
Participation in the Bonim Circle includes your preference for requesting bar or bat mitzvah dates within the parameters of SLJ requirements (inclusive of all that is mentioned below).

Mitzvah Circle $2,600*
Recognition in ALL levels of the Shomrim/Guardian Society includes:
• Earliest SLJ and NCECE registration
• Preferred seating for the NCECE Fall Chanukah/Thanksgiving and Moving Up/graduation programs
• Twelve complimentary Life Cycle Cards to commemorate special occasions for use during the program year
• Your name on the Shomrim/Guardian Society Membership recognition board located near the Cohen-Friedkin Sanctuary.

Participation does not cover obligations for school or program fees, building fund or endowment campaign commitments.
