Gift of Life, a Jewish bone marrow and stem cell registry headquartered in Boca Raton, facilitates transplants for children and adults suffering from life-threatening diseases, including leukemia, lymphoma, and other cancers and genetic diseases.

Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, is a day of reflection, renewal, and commitment. Since 2010, Gift of Life has been partnering with congregations on this important day, giving congregants the chance to begin the New Year with a simple act that could save a life. The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) joined Gift of Life in this endeavor in 2013.

Beginning in 2014, Congregation B’nai Israel became part of the Gift of Life Yom Kippur program, where we collected more than 80 cheek swabs! In fact, it was such a success that we hosted a Gift of Life collection at one of our interfaith programs as well, where we collected over an additional 50 swabs.

We are always looking for volunteers. Please contact Minda Shaiman, our Programming Coordinator.
