In South Florida, 1 in 4 children go to bed hungry and this number rises during the summer months when children no longer have access to free lunch programs through the public schools. At Congregation B’nai Israel, we are passionate about feeding the youth in our community who suffer from hunger and food insecurity.
CBI’s Sandwich Brigade meets every Wednesday at 10 am to make hundreds of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that are distributed to after school programs in Palm Beach County. Children who would otherwise go without are provided with a healthy sandwich to help fill in the gap and sustain them until their next meal.
We are always looking for volunteers and donations. Please contact Minda Shaiman, our Social Action/Special Project Manager, for more information.
