At Congregation B’nai Israel, music truly is at the heart and soul of all that we do. From the adult and children’s choirs, wonderful Friday night services, and our funny and fantastic Purim Shpiels, to our moving High Holy Day services, there is something for everyone here at CBI.
Congregation B’nai Israel Announces Appointment of Senior Cantor David Muchnick
Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI), an inclusive, large Reform congregation in Boca Raton, announced that Cantor David Muchnick has officially joined the synagogue’s clergy team as Senior Cantor.
Cantor David Muchnick joined Congregation B’nai Israel as Interim Cantor in August 2018, following 15 years as the Senior Cantor at the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, located in Aventura, Florida. While at ATJC, Cantor Muchnick initiated and developed their Friday Night Live Service. He created their temples professional choir, sang at numerous concerts and Services, and ran their annual Purim Shpiel. Cantor Muchnick also created and developed their Bar and Bat mitzvah program and spent 12 years running their Religious school.
Cantor Muchnick received his Ordination as Cantor from the Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion. He also has a Masters degree in Jewish Sacred Music from the Hebrew Union College, among many other academic accomplishments.
“During my time as Interim Cantor, I was able to spread my passion for Jewish music and teaching to CBI’s vibrant community. I look forward to my role as Senior Cantor and continuing to enhance all musical worship and programming for the synagogue.” Muchnick said.
Cantor Muchnick is married to his soulmate Dena. Dena is a Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist. When they are not running around with their five children, Sophie (20), Jonah (18), Alexa (14), Jordan (12) and Emersyn (8), David and Dena love to travel and enjoy attending Broadway musicals and all types of concerts.
Rabbi Silvers said, “Cantor Muchnick has helped us to become one community out of many voices. He represents this community with humility and dignity; his voice and musical skill inspiring us all in worship and in praise of God.”
“We are excited to welcome Cantor Muchnick as a permanent member of our clergy team. The warmth and compassion towards our congregants is equally matched by his engaging personality and amazing voice. We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship with Cantor Muchnick,” said Jeffrey Cannon, President of Congregation B’nai Israel.
Steve Allen, Executive Director of Congregation B’nai Israel said, “We are so happy and lucky to have Cantor Muchnick join our Clergy and Senior staff team. He brings his passion, talent and teamwork to CBI and I already see how the congregation has embraced him as our Senior Cantor,”
CBI invites our entire community to save the date for Cantor Muchnick’s Installation Shabbat on January 31, 2020, followed by a Fundraising and Cantorial Concert with colleagues from across the country on February 1, 2020. Additional event information will be released by the Fall of 2019.
