Siyyum B’chorim (Service for the First Born)
Hollander Family Chapel
Tradition obligates first-born Jews to fast prior to the eve of Passover in gratitude for surviving the tenth plague. The fast may be broken by attending a “siyyum” or “conclusion” of tractate of Talmud. Our version of this custom consists of a brief morning service, a teaching by Rabbi Robert A. Silvers about Pesach, and a bagel and coffee nosh, to which everyone is invited, including non-first-borns!
