In the spirit of hachnasat orchim — the sacred mitzvah of welcoming guests — we are thrilled to officially welcome Interim Rabbi Cy Stanway and Senior Associate Rabbi Erica Rosenkranz to our CBI family on July 1st.
We are Gil Kaminer and Robyn Rubinoff, the Co-Chairs of CBI’s Welcome Committee. We have each served CBI in a variety of ways over the years, and we are dedicated making Rabbi Cy and Rabbi Erica feel at home in our community.
Our committee’s work has been underway for many weeks leading up to this day. A diverse group of members has been organizing opportunities during the summer for Rabbi Cy and Rabbi Erica to meet our families and get to know one another. As the year goes on, we invite all who are interested to help the Welcome Committee generate ideas for events and find ways for members to interact with our clergy team.
Starting the week of July 6, we are coordinating small gatherings at members’ homes where Rabbi Cy and Rabbi Erica can meet members in a relaxed, comfortable setting. We want the rabbis to make connections and learn about our CBI community, and we want our members to get to know them in a personal way.

In addition to the small gatherings, the Welcome Committee is compiling a variety of content featuring Rabbi Cy and Rabbi Erica to share with members. This content will help introduce our new rabbis to our community and allow members to start getting to know them no matter where they may be this summer.
In the fall, the Welcome Committee will offer members the opportunity to organize Shabbat dinners with our rabbis in their homes, host additional informal gatherings, and attend larger events at the synagogue – all while ensuring our regularly scheduled events are filled with enthusiasm and joy.
As we enter this transitional year in CBI’s history, which will include the search for our next Senior Rabbi, we are grateful your support in securing the best possible outcome for our entire CBI family.
