Rabbi Cy Stanway

Interim Senior Rabbi

Rabbi Cy Stanway will serve as our Senior Interim Rabbi for 2026–2027. He brings a lifetime of service in the congregational rabbinate, having served communities in Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Elberon, New Jersey. Most recently, Rabbi Cy served as Interim Rabbi in Gainesville, Florida, from June 2025 through July 2026.

Rabbi Stanway attended York University in Toronto, where he earned a degree in Psychology. He graduated from Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion in 1987 and received his Doctor of Divinity in 2012.

In his free time, Rabbi Stanway enjoys playing guitar and drums and is also an amateur radio operator.

Rabbi Erica Rosenkranz

Senior Associate Rabbi

Rabbi Erica was born and raised in Rockland County, New York. She attended Binghamton University with a double major in Comparative Literature and Judaic Studies. In 2006, Rabbi Erica received her rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York.

Prior to being the rabbi at CBI, Rabbi Erica was the Director of Community Engagement for the NOW for Holocaust Survivors Initiative and campus rabbi at MorseLife Health system in West Palm Beach. She also spent six years working In the planning department at the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, starting new initiatives like the Jewish Volunteer Center and creating programs to engage all ages of the Palm Beach County community.

Rabbi Erica is passionate about volunteerism and helping create positive change, one person at a time. She lives by the Pirkei Avot teaching (2:16), where it states “It is not your responsibility to finish the work, but neither are you free to desist from it”.

Rabbi Erica loves attending music concerts, working out, and taking trips and spending quality time with her family. Her husband, Rabbi Andrew Rosenkranz, is the rabbi at Temple Beth Torah in Wellington. She has two children, Laila who attends UCF in Orlando and Haviv, who is in 8th grade.

Cantor David Muchnick

Senior Cantor

David Muchnick is a distinguished Senior Cantor with over 25 years of experience serving the Jewish community through music, spiritual leadership, and creative engagement. Originally from New York and raised in Aventura, Florida, Cantor Muchnick’s passion for music led him to the renowned high school New World School of the Arts in Miami, where he honed his vocal talents. He later earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Miami, with a focus on Vocal Performance and Judaic Studies. His academic journey continued at Florida International University, where he began earning his Master’s Degree in Music Education and Choral Conducting until entering seminary at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion-School of Sacred Music, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Sacred Music and his ordination as a Cantor in 2000.

Cantor Muchnick’s career has been defined by his ability to uplift and inspire through music, serving as Senior Cantor at esteemed congregations across the country, including Temple Chaverim in New York, Rockdale Temple in Cincinnati, Temple Judea in Coral Gables, and the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center in his hometown of Aventura, Florida. Since 2018, he has brought his deep passion and musical artistry to Congregation B’nai Israel of Boca Raton, where he leads services with his powerful voice and skilled piano accompaniment. A devoted choral conductor, he has played a pivotal role in guiding young voices through the Boca Raton chapter of the HaZamir Choral Foundation, an international Jewish teen choir fostering connection through Jewish music.

Beyond his traditional cantorial duties, Cantor Muchnick is known for his creative and engaging approach to worship, developing innovative themed services such as Disney Shabbat and Purim Shpiels that bring joy and meaning to congregants of all ages and oversees the B’nai Mitzvah program. Adding to his arsenal of skills, Cantor Muchnick is also a certified and practicing Mohel in the South Florida area. This May, he will receive an honorary Doctorate in Sacred Music, recognizing his lifelong dedication to Jewish liturgical arts.

When not serving his congregation, Cantor Muchnick cherishes time spent traveling, attending concerts and Broadway musicals and making memories with his beloved wife, Dena, embracing every adventure life has to offer.

Robert A. Silvers

Rabbi Emeritus

Rabbi Robert Silvers serves as Rabbi Emeritus for Congregation B’nai Israel, a URJ affiliated Reform congregation, in Boca Raton, Florida. He is a graduate of the Rabbinical program at the Academy for Jewish Religion, a pluralistic seminary preparing rabbis and cantors to serve Klal Yisrael – the entire Jewish people. Rabbi Silvers holds the unique distinction of receiving s’micha (ordination) from a Beit Din consisting of both Reform and Conservative rabbis.

Rabbi Silvers has served at Congregation B’nai Israel since 1994. Prior to 1994, he served as Coordinator of Community Programs at the Commission for Jewish Education for the Palm Beach County Jewish Federation in West Palm Beach, Florida. Rabbi Silvers has extensive experience and background in pastoral care. He served his Rabbinical School Chaplaincy internship at Sloan-Kettering Hospital. He also served as Youth Director at both Temple of Aaron in St. Paul, Minnesota and North Suburban Beth El in Highland Park, Illinois. Additionally, Rabbi Silvers has served in the dual capacity of educator and chazzan at Temple Beth Zion in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. Rabbi Silvers is especially proud of the pastoral work and care that he provided to his own congregation and also to the greater local community as a volunteer Chaplain for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Rabbi Silvers’ influence goes far beyond his own pulpit. He was a featured lecturer at Florida Atlantic University for the URJ Religious Action Center’s Consultation on Conscience, a visiting guest scholar at St. Vincent Roman Catholic Seminary, and has been an integral member of a community-wide Jewish-Evangelical Christian dialogue. Rabbi Silvers also participates in a yearly pulpit exchange with Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church and has been invited numerous times to the University of Florida at Gainesville and to the University of Central Florida in Orlando to conduct Passover Seders for students unable to be with their own families. Rabbi Silvers has taught for and staffed the March of the Living, and teaches in the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School. In recognition of his work for K’lal Yisrael, Rabbi Silvers was chosen to participate in a Rabbinic seminar and retreat on “Religious Pluralism – Judaism in the 21st Century” sponsored by CLAL, the National Jewish Center. Rabbi Silvers has served as President of the Palm Beach County Board of Rabbis, as President of the Greater Boca Raton Religious Leaders Association, an interfaith coalition of clergy, and is a member of the Boca Raton Interfaith Association.

Rabbi Silvers’ interests include sports, yoga, travel (especially cruises) and the reading and collecting of Jewish (Biblical, Talmudic, Midrashic, Kabbalistic, and especially Chasidic) stories and parables. Rabbi Silvers also has great interest in Sephardic history and practice as he married into a family that traces their lineage back to Spain, and includes a 200 year history of Sephardic family rabbis.
